Hamangiu Legal Library, a prominent resource for legal professionals in Romania, identified the need to enhance its digital reading experience to better serve its users, including lawyers, jurists, and law students.

Hamangiu contracted OPTI to develop advanced tools that would improve user engagement, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Difficulty in tracking user limits - Users found it challenging to monitor their usage limits, such as the number of pages viewed or books accessed, leading to frustration.
  • Strict subscription limits - The library needed to implement transparent and strict usage limits for daily activities, including the number of pages, books, and saved excerpts.

Solution

OPTI addressed these challenges by implementing a suite of digital tools as follows.

Highlights and Annotations

  • Users can choose from 13 vibrant and pastel colors for highlighting text, allowing for personalized emphasis.
  • Users can add, edit, or delete annotations directly within the document, enabling them to input their thoughts easily.
  • The sidebar serves as a centralized location for all highlighted and annotated content which is stored in the user profile for easy access.

  • Users can add multiple bookmarks for each book they read.
  • Bookmarks are stored in a dedicated tab within the sidebar and are also integrated into the user profile.

Usage limits displayed in real time

  • Users can monitor their usage limits, including views per hour, views per day, prints per day, and copies per day.
  • The system provides proactive notifications when users approach or reach predefined usage limits.
