The Friday Tech Seminars - OPTI launches a series of seminars on programming and computer science
09.05.2023

OPTI is a Bucharest software company, founded in 2005 and providing tailored solutions that increase efficiency by integrating and customizing ERP and CRM platforms, such as Hubspot, Salesforce, and Dynamics365. OPTI also creates software that helps established companies and start-ups boost their business. You can see some of our projects on www.opti.ro.

In May-June 2023, to create a community dedicated to the best programming standards and open to the contemporary technical challenges, OPTI opens their technical webinars to visitors who have a background in programming, IT project management or computer science.

OPTI’s Friday Tech Seminars will take place each Friday starting on the 12th of May 2023 between 17:00 and 18:00 and will be held in person at OPTI’s headquarters in Bucharest (Cotroceni, str. Nanu Muscel).

The first four seminars will be:

1) Managing big data in classical relational databases - case study

Big data in classical relational databases

Big Data is usually synonymous with the necessity of using non-relational databases and procedures such as MapReduce. However, towards the smaller range of big data volumes (< 1PT), traditional database systems such as MySQL can be used if a data transfer and aggregation module is developed in a programming language such as PHP, Python or Javascript. The presentation will display such a setup and will contain a Q&A session.

Speaker: Marian Călborean, founder of OPTI

When: 12.05.2023 17:00

Where: OPTI’s headquarters (Cotroceni, str. Nanu Muscel). Registration required.

2) Introduction to theoretical computer science: Turing-complete languages and the halting problem

Introduction to theoretical computer science

Description: Theoretical computer science studies the mathematical definition of programs and computers and the limits of computation. The seminar will introduce the concept of a Turing machine, the definition of a program and the halting problem: what can not be computed by any computer. It will contain a Q&A session.

Speaker: Marian Călborean, founder of OPTI

When: 19.05.2023 17:00

Where: OPTI’s headquarters (Cotroceni, str. Nanu Muscel). Registration required.

3) AI agents: putting ChatGPT to automatic, replicable use in a business setting

AI agents

Description: The recent rise of ChatGPT has allowed “AI Agents” to appear, using the ChatGPT API to take a business case, split it into subtasks and then execute each task towards the overall goal. The seminar will present the functioning of such an agent with applicable use cases and will contain a Q&A session.

Speaker: Marian Călborean, founder of OPTI

When: 26.05.2023 17:00

Where: OPTI’s headquarters (Cotroceni, str. Nanu Muscel). Registration required.

4) Managing concurrency: programming techniques when facing thousands of simultaneous requests

Managing concurrency

Description: The toughest rock to climb for junior programmers and testers is facing a concurrency problem for the first time. When thousands of users access the same resource, traditional debugging and testing methodologies fail. The seminar will present three such real-world situations, in mobile app development, API development and database development, along with their solutions. It will contain a Q&A session.

Speaker: Marian Călborean, founder of OPTI

When: 02.06.2023 17:00

Where: OPTI’s headquarters (Cotroceni, str. Nanu Muscel). Registration required.

If you’re a programmer, analyst, IT manager, CTO or CEO of an IT company or a researcher in theoretical computer science, you can register your attendance here. Limited places available.
